| Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, attending public school system, Donald has always recognized the importance of proper handling of money and the value of it. At a very young age, his mother put him to sleep for a nap and when she awoke him; his little hand was squeezing a fifty-cent piece that someone had given him earlier that day. He held on so tight that it had turned green in his hand from the sweat. He was a very responsible young man who would cut grass, deliver newspapers and do anything that was required of him to earn money for something he wanted to buy. He wanted a bike, but his mom told him that he would have to pay for half of it and learn how to ride. He got a job delivering newspapers and learned how to ride all in one day. He was motivated by the desire to work for something that he wanted and was eager and more than willing to spend the money for the bike even at a young age. By naming him Donald Lee Robinson with the initials DLR (dollar), his mother did not know that this would direct his path for life. Not only did he know about the flow of money, he knew the importance of studying more about the flow of money. After high school graduation, Donald immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy which helped to support and encourage his growth, maturity and responsibility in general and helped him to stay focused on his future goals in the field of business. His jobs and duties in the Navy included but were not limited to counter narcotics officer; shore patrol Navy police; family member counseling which helped members adjust to Navy lifestyle and also preparing taxes for the service members and their families. After serving nine years in the U.S. Navy, Donald felt the need to learn more about Business. He enrolled in and graduated from Franklin University with Associates in Business, as well as a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. Donald later earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Ashland University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree from North Central University. As a business professional, Donald realized he was encountering people who, because they never learned about handling money, had overextended their credit with no back-up plan! So many people don’t realize how bad that is simply because, earlier in life, they weren’t thought about the responsibilities of managing money, about establishing good credit or other financial skills. The impact of these encounters inspired Donald to create skillsthatclick – designed to educate the youth of today and provide them with a solid foundation for using money wisely now and in the future. Donald is married with one son and one daughter. He and his wife Vickie are teaching their children on a daily basis how to manage their money as they are learning how to make money last longer and to spend it for the right things at all times. Even a trip for pizza is a learning experience for the children in the Robinson household. |
